Over the past few weeks, COVID-19 has become one of the hottest topics in debate. Not only does it cause a stir through panic-buying of toilet papers, the rising concern of this pandemic has also caused huge loss to numerous industries.
With the recent significant spike in the number of individuals tested positively with COVID-19, this contagious virus reached an alarming rate, prompting the Malaysian Government to implement the Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (Movement Control Order), sometimes dubbed as the nation’s partial lockdown beginning from 18th to 31st of March 2020.
As part of the initiative to minimize the risk of the virus infecting healthy individuals, all mass movements or gatherings, including religious, sports, social and cultural activities are generally prohibited. As such, many businesses premises (except for those providing essential services), including cinema outlets are required to be temporarily closed down until the end of the Movement Control Order.
