Fire, one of the most universal classical elements in life. It keeps us warm, give us light, cook our foods and more. When exploited, it can also be a lethal element used for warfare purposes. As with the STAR WARS universe, in addition to the utilization of blasters *pew pew noise*, fire-based weaponries like flamethrowers are also adopted by troopers of various factions like the Galactic Republic, Galactic Empire and First Order as means of combat against enemies.

Temporarily straying from superhero related stuff, Hot Toys decided to give collectors something ‘different’ (well, sort of lah…) by returning to the STAR WARS line, specifically the sensational hit Disney+ ‘s TV series, THE MANDALORIAN.

Last October, Hot Toys launched a line of collectible figures for THE MANDALORIAN, beginning with the titular character, the Mandalorian himself and the wicked Assassin Droid IG-11. In the subsequent months, the Heavy Infantry Mandalorian and Remnant Stormtrooper collectible figures were also announced for pre-order.

As many collectors know, Hot Toys is known for producing the faceless Stormtroopers from the STAR WARS franchise. Numerous variants based on the classic all-white Stormtrooper were made, such as the Sand Trooper, Rogue One Stormtroopers, Jump Trooper and Space Trooper to name a few. Even the Remnant Stormtrooper itself from the Disney+ TV show is nothing more than a repaint. All these variants share the same mould and parts with one another with the only differences being the weathering effect applications applied onto the armours and the accessories included.

Early this week, Hot Toys unveiled the next variant among the many other troopers that collectors have gotten within the past few years. This time, it’s the INCINERATOR STORMTROOPER that made a brief appearance in the first season of THE MANDALORIAN. Guess this collectible figure is not so ‘different’ after all. Oh well…

After the fall of the Galactic Empire, the Imperial military force disbanded and many troopers became remnants who continue to serve under former high-ranking Imperial officers.

In the season finale of THE MANDALORIAN, the Mandalorian bounty hunter along with the Child (a.k.a. Baby Yoda) and his allies were trapped in a cantina by the leader of an Imperial Remnant, Moff Gideon. In an effort to flush them out from the structure, Gideon sent in the Incinerator Stormtrooper, a specialized trooper trained in utilizing incendiary weaponry to do the job.

Armed with a powerful flamethrower, the Incinerator Stormtrooper mercilessly sets the cantina ablaze. Then, trooper entered the burning building to seal their fates. Just as the bounty hunter and his allies thought they were about to meet their maker, the Child’s mystical gift prevented the flames from engulfing them. Fighting fire with fire, the Child used the Force to redirect the red-hot blaze back at the trooper which then combusted into flame, resulting in the explosion of the flamethrower fuel tank that sent the trooper flying out of the building.

The INCINERATOR STORMTROOPER is the 12th collectible figure under Hot Toys’ TV Masterpiece (TMS) line, hence is labelled as TMS012.

Here’s what included with the collectible figure:

  • A detailed likeness of the Incinerator Stormtrooper as seen in The Mandalorian
  • Approximately 30 cm in height with over 30 points of articulations
  • 7 pieces of interchangeable gloved hands
  • A finely crafted Incinerator Stromtrooper armour with red markings
  • A black multitextured fabric under-suit
  • A red colour shoulder pauldron
  • A white colour utility belt
  • A pair of white boots
  • A flamethrower with fuel tank backpack
  • A flame effect accessory (attachable to flamethrower)
  • A figurine base stand with Incinerator Stormtrooper’s designation printed on

As you can see, the Incinerator Stormtrooper does not come with plenty accessories, nor does it include a head sculpt. Occasionally, this may put off some collectors. However, there’s no denying that it’s still an awesome collectible figure. Those red markings on the armour certainly made the trooper appear more striking and intimidating than an all-white Imperial conscript. For army-building collectors (a term used to coin collectors who enjoy buying the same infantry characters to assemble an army), the Incinerator Stormtrooper would make an awesome variant in your troop collection.

The Incinerator Stormtrooper collectible figure is expected to be released somewhere between the 4th quarter of 2020 to the 1st quarter of 2021.
