Playing video games is one of the greatest joys of life for gamers. It not only brings happiness to individuals, but also people together by encouraging social interactions. For a moment, gamers could temporarily cast aside all worries and weights that reality has placed on their shoulders by immersing themselves into the gaming world.

Earlier this week at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020, Sony officially unveiled the logo for their upcoming next-generation video game console.

25 years ago, millennials were thrilled when Sony launched its first video game console in 1994, the PlayStation. With the flow of time, Sony continues to thinker and innovate to meet the needs of consumers. By introducing newer generations of video game consoles, gamers gain access to better hardware, faster software, improved functionality, visual displays and audio outputs and more. All of these is meant to serve one purpose which is to enhance the quality of one’s gaming experience.

At CES 2020, Sony PlayStation’s President and CEO, Jim Ryan showcased some of the new key features of the PS5.

As the 8th generation video game console, gamers can expect to see some high-end specs on the PS5. According to Sony, the video game console uses a dramatically increased graphics rendering speeds to help deliver more immersive experiences for gamers. It would be a very powerful video game console, possessing many sophisticated components, such as a new solid-state drive (SSD) for ultra-fast loading time.
The PS5 comes with a 4K Blu-ray player for physical discs. With its 4K visuals at a refresh rate of 120Hz, gamers with higher refresh rate displays would experience extra-smooth graphics.
The new DualShock controller is equipped with haptic feedback tech and adaptive triggers to allow gamers to better experience the tactile sensations based on their in-game actions.
Another feature worthy of inclusion is its backwards compatibility. Yes, that means the gamers could also play PS4 games on this new video game console! However, at this point, there is still no confirmation on whether PS5 could support games from the other older generations of PlayStation.
Thus far, Sony has yet to reveal the design of this next-generation video game console. However, over the past few months, photos of a digitally rendered PS5 and development kits have been circulating the Internet. Its unique V-shaped design led public to speculate that this could potentially be the new design for the console.
